About the Programme

The Boxing School is Başarı Spor Akademisi’s boxing programme for children and teenagers aged nine and over. Delivered at the academy’s training camp, it begins with stance, footwork and defence and progresses gradually to controlled work.

Boxing is taught through tempo more than technique. In a beginner’s first months the gloves are barely used; instead the work is stance, weight transfer, footwork and defensive reflex. That apparently dull period is in fact the decisive part of the sport — an athlete whose feet are in the wrong place will not land a punch in the right one either.

Conditioning is the discipline’s greatest side benefit. Skipping, shadow boxing and combination repeats train aerobic and anaerobic capacity in the same session. Even a child with no interest in throwing a punch leaves this programme with a marked gain in conditioning and coordination.

Contact is fully controlled and tied to level. Younger groups work on the bag, on pads and through shadow boxing; partner work begins only once defensive technique is automatic, and always with protective equipment. Our approach to any work involving head contact is cautious and opt-in.

Training Content

Technique, defence and conditioning in every session; contact is graded.

  • Stance and weight transfer: the basis of balance and trunk rotation
  • Footwork: establishing distance, taking angles, withdrawing
  • Fundamental punches: straight, hook and uppercut technique
  • Defence: block, slip, roll and defending with distance
  • Combinations: shadow boxing and pad work
  • Conditioning: skipping, interval running and trunk strength
  • Controlled partner work: with protective equipment, for those ready

Who Can Join?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is boxing safe for children?
When it is graded, yes. In our setup younger groups work on the bag, on pads and through shadow boxing; partner work does not begin until defensive technique is automatic, and it is always done with protective equipment. Competing is optional, and no athlete is put into a pairing they are not ready for.
What age can they start?
Nine is the threshold at which a child can follow technical instruction and regulate their own force. Younger than that we recommend general coordination work and gymnastics rather than boxing-specific training.
Will it make my child fight?
Our experience says the opposite. The first things learned in a boxing gym are hierarchy and control: when gloves go on, when you stop, where force is held. A child who genuinely knows the limits of their own strength has no need to use it outside.
Do they have to compete?
No. A substantial share of our athletes box purely for conditioning, coordination and technique and never enter a bout. There is a separate preparation group for those who do want to compete.
Is it suitable for girls?
Yes — we have female athletes in mixed groups and the technical curriculum is identical. Boxing delivers the same conditioning and confidence gains for both.
What equipment is needed?
Comfortable sportswear and suitable shoes for skipping are enough at first. Once a child decides to continue, personal wraps and gloves are acquired; a mouthguard and headgear are mandatory for anyone moving to partner work.
