PMYO PREPARATION PROGRAMME

The cut-off time does not negotiate. You make it or you do not.

About the Programme

The PMYO Preparation Programme is Başarı Spor Akademisi’s programme for candidates facing the physical fitness examination in the entry process for Turkey’s Police Vocational Schools (Polis Meslek Yüksekokulu). Delivered at the academy’s training camp, it trains candidates against the cut-off times the course stations demand.

This exam differs from the others in one clear way: there is no ranking, only a threshold. A candidate who meets the cut-off time continues; one who does not is eliminated. That changes the logic of preparation entirely — the goal is not to “do your best” but to hit a specific time repeatedly, including on a bad day.

So the programme is built station by station. We measure the candidate’s current time at each station, find where the time is actually being lost, and shift the weekly load there. For most candidates the bulk of the loss sits in a single station; targeting it returns far more than raising general conditioning would in the same weeks.

The psychological side is trained too. On the day the candidate runs the course cold, after queuing, with one attempt. To rehearse that, simulations are deliberately run with a wait, with noise, and with a single attempt. What has to feel familiar on exam day is not just the course but the tension of the moment.

Training Content

Develop the stations separately, then reassemble them under full-course conditions.

  • Speed and acceleration: repeated short sprint starts, maximal velocity work
  • Anaerobic endurance: high-intensity intervals with short recoveries
  • Upper-body strength: press-ups, pull-ups, balanced push and pull work
  • Core strength and sit-ups: repetition blocks for trunk endurance
  • Jumping: vertical jump and standing long jump technique
  • Balance and agility: the technical sections of the course
  • Full-course simulation: single-attempt runs against the cut-off time

Who Can Join?

  • Secondary school graduates applying through the PMYO entry process
  • Candidates sitting the physical fitness test for the first time
  • Repeat candidates who missed the cut-off time last year
  • Candidates meeting the age, height and weight criteria in the entry guide
  • Candidates whose health permits sustained physical loading

Frequently Asked Questions

What stations are in the PMYO physical fitness test?
The test is run as a course of consecutive stations — typically a sprint section, obstacle passes, and stations demanding balance and strength — all to be completed inside a single cut-off time. The station order and the time are published each year in the entry guide, and we build your programme around the guide for your application year.
What happens if I miss the cut-off time?
The physical test is eliminatory: miss the time and the process ends there. So preparation aims at hitting the target time not once but repeatedly, at varying levels of fatigue. Our benchmark in simulation is that you stay under the threshold even on a poor day.
How long will preparation take?
It depends on your baseline. Candidates who start close to the cut-off often need eight to ten weeks; where there is a clear gap we plan four to five months. We take the first measurement during the free athlete assessment and give you a realistic timeline based on it — measured, not guessed.
Are the times the same for men and women?
No. Cut-off times and some station criteria are set separately by gender, and the training plan differs accordingly — whatever your target time is, the work is built around it.
How does the physical test relate to my written exam score?
The physical test is a threshold, not a score contribution: a candidate who fails it does not proceed to interview. However high your written score, you still have to clear this stage — which is why it should not be left to the final month.
How closely does training resemble the real course?
Because we have our own training camp, we can build the stations close to true dimensions and repeat full-course simulations more than once a week. This is the most concrete benefit of being the only sports academy in Turkey with its own camp: we do not depend on another facility’s calendar to run a simulation.
